- Post all new WordPress Post or Pages to a specified Facebook Page.
- Like, send, and subscribe buttons
- Facebook Comments, including full SEO support.
- Open Graph Protocol integration.
- Recommendations bar
Lets take a look at how to install and configure this …
Install The Plugin
Download the plugin, then in your WordPress admin, visit “Plugins” > “Add New” > “Upload” and upload the file.
Activate the plugin and you will see a new menu item called “Facebook”
Create Your App
If you visit the “Facebook” tab, you will see the first thing you need to do is create an “app” for your site at Facebook, follow this link to do that. Once you have created your app on the Facebook website, enter your app ID, App Secret and Namespace you created :
Post and Page Settings
Now you can choose which features you would like to enable on your site. Tick the check boxes of the ones you want, as you do so, extra options will appear to fill in.
Place Your Widgets
If you visit your widgets page “Appearance” > “Widgets” you will see a load of new facebook-specific widgets you can add for the different features. Drag these to the place on your theme you’d like them to appear :
Conclusion
This is a comprehensive plugin to enable just about every Facebook feature on your WordPress site – how far you want to go integrating with Facebook is up to you though. Facebook can drive a good amount of traffic to your site and can help build your community. Personally I dont like some of the features such as Facebook taking over a site’s commenting area, but thats just me – I suppose it would help cut down on spam as people will be more hesitant to spam under their own names.
